About Merovex Press

The Architect of "What If"

At Merovex Press, we don't just tell stories; we build worlds on the foundation of "supposals." Borrowing from C.S. Lewis’s concept—taking a radical premise and following it to its logical conclusion—Merovex Press explores the friction between humanity, history, and the eternal.

Whether it’s an inept Marine with a hostile AI in his skull or a fantasy reimagining of the Wars of Religion, every project starts with a simple question: What if things were different?

The Man Behind the Imprint: Ben Wilson

Merovex Press is the creative home of Ben Wilson. The name "Merovex" stems from a lifelong pursuit of being a "polymath of the practical." Like the figure from legend, Ben’s passion lies in knowing a bit about everything—a trait honed while running digital "spy rings" in strategy games and managing complex systems in the tech world.

A Foundation of Experience & Ethics

To write convincing Speculative Fiction and Alternative History, you have to understand how the gears of civilization actually turn. A unique intersection of discipline, law, and faith informs Ben’s writing:

  • Military & Tech: 9 years in the U.S. Army and 25+ years in technology leadership provide the tactical and structural DNA for his world-building.
  • Legal & Historical Precision: A J.D. (Law Degree) and a lifelong study of the 17th and 18th centuries allow him to deconstruct the legal hinges that shift the course of empires.
  • A Moral Lens: As a Christian, an exploration of objective morality, the nature of the soul, and the weight of individual choice underpins Ben’s work. His stories don't just ask how we survive, but why we ought to.

One Vision, Two Names

You may notice two authors under the Merovex banner: Ben Wilson and Troy Buzby. While they share the same face (and a similar fondness for historical deep-dives), they serve different missions:

  • Ben Wilson handles Speculative Fiction, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. This is where you’ll find the AI-embedded marines and high-concept "supposals" that test the limits of human nature.
  • Troy Buzby is the dedicated persona for Alternative History.

Why the distinction? To ensure readers find exactly what they’re looking for. To avoid confusion with other authors in the historical space, Troy Buzby focuses exclusively on the "What Ifs" of the past—specifically the political and legal shifts that led to the American separation from England.

The Mission: Smart Fiction with a Soul

Merovex Press exists to provide fiction that respects the reader's intelligence. We believe stories should be more than just action; they should be a sandbox for testing ideas. We promise stories that are researched like a legal brief, paced like a tactical operation, and driven by a deep curiosity about the vast, strange tapestry of human history and the truths that govern it.

Where to Start?

  • For the Sci-Fi Fan: Dive into the Strand series or meet the Postal Marines.
  • For the History Buff: Explore the Alternative History of Troy Buzby, where the American Revolution takes a very different turn.
